Senior counsel
for every matter.
Silk gives your firm a private AI workspace that thinks like a practitioner and behaves like a professional: role-scoped, spend-capped, fully audited — and it never invents an authority.
Everything a firm needs to adopt AI without losing its nerve.
Silk was built with a litigation practice, not for one — every control below exists because a real firm asked for it.
Governed chat
Every request is classified against the role's AI-use scope before a model ever sees it. Out-of-scope requests are declined, logged and routed to the firm's review queue — nothing slips through quietly.
Citation safety, enforced
Silk never asserts a legal authority. Where an authority belongs, it writes [AUTHORITY TO BE INSERTED BY PRACTITIONER] — and a guardrail layer scans every reply for citation shapes and appends verification notices.
Matter projects
Group conversations per matter with standing instructions and a knowledge repository. Small matters ride in full context; large ones switch automatically to indexed retrieval — no document caps.
Firm Library
Knowledge BankA firm-wide shared repository — precedents, opinions, styles and templates — curated by senior partners and available in every professional's chat. The firm's institutional memory, searchable by meaning.
Hybrid retrieval
Full-text search and semantic embeddings, fused per query. A matter with hundreds of opinions still answers with the passages that matter, each cited by filename — and an index of every document so nothing is overlooked.
Spend governance
Rand budgets per user and per firm with soft stops, warning thresholds and a live meter on every chat. Administrators see per-user, per-department and per-matter consumption as it happens.
Review & exceptions
Declined requests queue for administrator or department-reviewer decision. Approvals deliver the answer into the requester's own conversation; standing exceptions widen a scope permanently — all audited.
Documents in, documents out
Upload PDF, Word, Excel and scans into chats and matter knowledge. Ask for a letter of demand and receive a real .docx attached to the reply — drafted under the same governance rules.
Governance is the product.
Client confidentiality and professional duty are not features to bolt on afterwards. Silk's entire pipeline — classification, generation, guardrails, metering, audit — was designed around them.
Private by design
Prompts are never stored by the model provider (store:false) and never used for training. Documents travel inline per request — no provider-side file store.
South African residency
Model capacity is deployed in Azure South Africa North. Data stays in-country in transit and at rest.
Every action audited
Sign-ins, declines, approvals, policy edits, cap events, guardrail notices — a complete governance trail per firm, exportable.
Closed platform
No self-registration. The firm's administrator provisions accounts — locally or straight from Microsoft Entra ID with single sign-on.
One platform. Every firm its own.
Silk is multi-tenant from the ground up. Each firm gets its own users, policies, knowledge, budgets, branding and audit trail — isolated at the data layer, administered from its own Admin Centre.
- ◆Onboard a firm in minutes from the operator Console — policies, caps and its first administrator included.
- ◆Firms run on the platform's Microsoft Foundry account, or bring their own Azure subscription for absolute cost and residency control.
- ◆Per-firm billing rollups: metered Rand figures per month, per user, per model tier — statement-ready.
- ◆Firm branding on the workspace: your colours, your name, your assistant profile.
- ◆Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on per firm, with directory import.
Illustrative figures. Real rollups live in the Console, metered per token.
Put your firm on Silk.
Onboarding, governance workshops and the operator Console are handled by Cloud ITS. A pilot firm is live in a day.
